When individuals begin to contemplate starting their ‘fitness journey’, they tend to build this negative perception where they believe that they will have to change their daily routine to a strict regimented lifestyle that consists of bland diets, 7 days a week in the gym and little to no social life. Now, while beginning a fitness journey does call for some lifestyle adjustments depending on your previous behaviours, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you aren’t going to enjoy these changes… which brings me to nutrition and training as a hobby not a chore.
As a coach, I understand that a balanced lifestyle is the key to keep my clients motivated and committed to their training and nutrition plans…. So let’s take a look at some examples that you can easily implement into your daily routine.
You could spend an hour at the gym walking to increase NEAT or get outdoors, listen to a podcast or encourage your friends to join you.
What sounds like a chore to you?
Walking mindlessly for 1 hour to increase steps on a treadmill or walking along the beach listening the waves roll while catching up with your friends.
Let’s look into the food sides of things as well…
You can stay home and cook chicken and veggies as eating out is to unpredictable or you can get creative with your macros by doing some research and finding macro friendly foods/sauces and organise a picnic with family and friends.
I think the choice is obvious!!
I always like to get outdoors every weekend and make the most of my surroundings whether I’m in a diet/training phase or not. By building fitness and Nutrition into your lifestyle you won’t even notice it’s their and it will naturally become a part of your everyday routine.
So my challenge for you this week is analyse your current daily routine, identify 1 fitness related activity that you don’t enjoy and implement a, enjoyable/entertaining/social alternative that will result in the same outcome.
