Daily Calories Or Weekly Calories? What Should We Track

When it comes to dieting there is no way around tracking your macros/calories… but what’s the best way to do so?

Whether you’re a professional or just someone looking to be fit and healthy I like to look at total weekly calories/macros rather than daily, as this will enhance performance while keeping things fun and interesting.

Essentially you shouldn’t put any weight on overnight given that your weekly calories aren’t up and over what they should be.

You could easily over eat one day and under eat the next day and your weight will stabilize.

Is it optimal? No…. Unless it’s a scheduled re-feed where we increase carbs and lower fats to aid with glycogen replenishment and increase energy.

So keep this short and sweet…

Instead of worrying what your macros look like each day try looking at the week as a whole and then designing it to how it works with you and your lifestyle.

Socially it may be better eating low Monday-Friday and then increasing carbs on the weekend so that you can have a meal out and relax with food.

For performance you may want to have higher carbs the day before a legs session as it requires more energy or you may even have some higher days leading into a comp to come in fuller and better on the day of the show.

There is more to calories in calories out…
