Calorie Flexible Pasta Bake

For this blog I thought I would bring you something a little different…

Over the weekend I had a refeed, which means I have more macros (especially carbs) to play with so I always try to get creative and test new recipes…. and lucky for you I hit a gold mine!

When in a calorie deficit, pasta is often the first thing to go as it is calorie/carb dense taking up the majority of your macros for the day. Now I know I said refeed, which means more calories… so at this point if you are trying to burn fat you are probably thinking how am I going to fit this in my meal plan… but don’t worry… this recipe allows for complete flexibility, therefore it can be easily modified to suit high/low calorie diets…

So what do you need…

Ingredients for high calorie diets:

- Pasta

- Pasta sauce

- Your choice of meat (e.g. bacon, steak, chicken etc.)

- Your choice of vegetables (e.g. mushrooms, spinach, cherry tomatoes)

- Woolworths tasty cheese

- Rosemary (or any other herb of your choice)

Ingredients for low calorie diets:

- Halve the pasta

- Cauliflower/pumpkin (this will be a pasta substitute).

- Pasta sauce

- Lean meat (e.g. chicken)

- Your choice of vegetables (e.g. mushrooms, spinach, cherry tomatoes)

- Woolworths light cheese

- Rosemary (or any other herb of your choice)

Method:

1. Cook pasta/cauliflower/pumpkin in a pot.

2. Cook meat and vegetables in a separate pan.

3. Combine pasta, vegetables, meat and pasta sauce in a bowl. Mix well.

4. Place cheese on top and place in oven on grill setting until the cheese is golden.

5. Enjoy!

As you can see this recipe is super easy and allows you to adjust the ingredients according to your personalised macros, so there is no excuse not to try it… trust me you will thank me later!
